This is guy is definitely a hunter advocate and his claims that biology academia is all left winged, is a lie and he knows that. The science bashing by a phd is always a red flag. Now he does make some good points on how hunters need to work on their image. He uses some science to back up his points but conveniently leaves a whole lot out. He's also not an independent biologist, unless he has a huge trust fund from Daddy. Somebody has to pay for research. He shows no data whatsoever that wolves have been a disaster for WY, MT and ID. The agency counts of elk show they are doing fine. The decline in the number of hunters has a lot to do with the decline in their image.

In reply to <a href="https://transitionwild.com/podcast-wolf-reintroduction-to-colorado-with-jon-keehner/#comment-151">Brice Henry</a>.

Brice, you are right on much of what you say, but wrong on some key points, too. I can't speak to Michigan other than I know that the wolves in the UP are doing just fine. You are also correct that wolves are not endangered in any way and should be de-listed and managed by the states where they live. Regarding Yellowstone, however, you are spreading the false anti-wolf doctrine. As you state, the "wolves saving rivers" thing is over-blown hyperbole by the wolf "advocates." You are also correct that groups like the NRDC and the hilariously named "EarthJustice," are just money making entities preying on gullible people who have never even seen a wild wolf.

But... to say there are no moose or bighorns in the park is ridiculous. Your statement that "Moose are so few they might be extinct in the park" is especially nonsensical. I spend a lot of time in YNP, and both species are readily apparent. I have hundreds of photos of each from the last few years. Both species are most easily seen along the park's northern tier, right where the wolf density is highest. There are parts of YNP that are great moose habitat, and there are moose there right now. There are parts with excellent sheep habitat, and there are sheep there right now. We have to be honest on all accounts if we (hunters) want to be taken seriously. The rapid elk decline in the park is more disconcerting, and I agree with you that wolves are a big part of that decline.

There is so many points and facts he missed.
First off wolves are nonessential. Anyone can fact check this in your own state. Colorado has had no wolves for at least 80 years. Did the whole ecosystem die off? Of course not that proves wolves are nonessential.
The wolves did not restore the trees in Yellowstone. That is fraud. Studies have shown there is the same numbers of trees as when the wolves were released. The whole beaver fraud was not talked about. The Park service hired trappers to live trap 129 beaver and released them in the Park waterways. Then the corrupt Doug Smith NPS held a press conference and said see wolves are magical the beaver returned.
Wolves are being protected because hunters will never in million years control their numbers. They breed like rats. The anti hunters want the wolves in all states so hunting will be closed down. That is the goal. Anyone can check the Mackinaw Bridge count in Michigan. This is how many deer hunters harvest in the Upper Peninsula and drive across the bridge. Before wolves the harvest was 16,000 Deer last year after 20 years of wolves destroying the ecosystem a few thousands. The numbers had dropped 85%. New hunters are quitting cause who wants to spend a week hunting to look at barren empty forest land. Idaho the same way in Lolo zone two different science studies proved wolves were wiping out the elk herd. In fact the wolves killed more elk than hunters, poachers, grizzly bears, disease, and cougars all combined.
This is to destroy hunting in America.
The greedy welfare lawyers form the groups that claim they want to save the wolves is all a fraud. You see this scumbag lawyers sue the government and they get to charge we the people up to 750 an hour in lawyers fees. Anyone who has every paid legal fees knows this insane because there is hours and yours in research and preparing briefs. These greedy lawyers are laughing all the way to the bank. Not too mention that wolves are in fact fake endangered species.
The number 1 complaint in Yellowstone today is where is all the wildlife. The wolves wiped out most of elk herd. Moose are so few they might be extinct in the park when there was 1200 before wolves and bighorn sheep are completely wiped out of Yellowstone. Sure glad the wolves are back wiping out other species.
