<p><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of FoodSaver®; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.</span></em></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For as long as I can remember, hunting, fishing, and spending time in the great outdoors has been a necessity to the well-being of my soul. Growing up in rural farm country of Michigan kept me outside for most of my childhood, and having acres upon acres to explore and recreate on is something I am forever grateful for.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">My father introduced me to hunting at a young age and he set me up with a bow when I was 10 years old. A large backyard meant I had plenty of room to lose a quiver full of arrows as I honed my archery technique from square one. As the years passed, he would take me afield with him and I am proud to say that he was with me as I evolved into my own hunter. The moment we walked up to my first deer after many failed attempts, is something I’ll never forget.</span></p>
<div id="attachment_5833" style="width: 682px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-5833" data-attachment-id="5833" data-permalink="https://transitionwild.com/preserving-the-joy-of-the-moment/meat-processing-with-dad-1-min2/" data-orig-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Meat-Processing-With-Dad-1-min2.jpg" data-orig-size="672,482" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;1528286691&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}" data-image-title="Meat-Processing-With-Dad-1-min2" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="&lt;p&gt;My father and friends helping me butcher my first elk in 2016.&lt;/p&gt;
" data-medium-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Meat-Processing-With-Dad-1-min2-300x215.jpg" data-large-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Meat-Processing-With-Dad-1-min2.jpg" class="wp-image-5833 size-full" src="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Meat-Processing-With-Dad-1-min2.jpg" alt="Processing Elk Meat" width="672" height="482" srcset="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Meat-Processing-With-Dad-1-min2.jpg 672w, https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Meat-Processing-With-Dad-1-min2-300x215.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 672px) 100vw, 672px" /><p id="caption-attachment-5833" class="wp-caption-text">My father and Sam helping me butcher my first elk in 2016.</p></div>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Now that I live in Colorado, I hold those memories close as a way to preserve the hunting heritage that is an enormous part of who I am today. Shortly after my first elk harvest in Colorado, my mother and father came out to visit me and spent a good portion of their vacation helping process and package the meat with my GameSaver® Big Game<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Vacuum Sealing System. Having them partake in that experience is something I cherish, as the distance between us does not allow for much time together. Almost two years have passed and a few packages of elk burger remain in my freezer, helping me to preserve and relive the time spent together with family. My FoodSaver® GameSaver® is not only useful for large quantities of game meat but is also in constant use for other small packaging throughout the year.</span></p>
<h2><span style="font-weight: 400;">On The Go Use</span></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Each Fall I find myself chasing big game species across multiple states and the remainder of the year revolves around scouting, camping, and planning the next adventure. Needless to say, I’m constantly on the go. A couple features of the Big Game<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> that really cater to on-the-go use is its rugged carrying handle and 12V DC Adaptor, which make it easy to use right from the truck. On a recent camping trip, I caught a few rainbow trout and was able to immediately preserve them in GameSaver® Heat-Seal Bags and Rolls, and put them on ice in the cooler within minutes of leaving the lake.</span></p>
<div id="attachment_5815" style="width: 1070px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><a href="http://app.markerly.com/b/36009/275" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-5815" data-attachment-id="5815" data-permalink="https://transitionwild.com/preserving-the-joy-of-the-moment/trout-vacuum-sealing/" data-orig-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Trout-Vacuum-Sealing.png" data-orig-size="1060,702" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="Trout Vacuum Sealing" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Trout-Vacuum-Sealing-300x199.png" data-large-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Trout-Vacuum-Sealing-1024x678.png" class="wp-image-5815 size-full" src="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Trout-Vacuum-Sealing.png" alt="Vacuum Sealing Trout " width="1060" height="702" srcset="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Trout-Vacuum-Sealing.png 1060w, https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Trout-Vacuum-Sealing-300x199.png 300w, https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Trout-Vacuum-Sealing-768x509.png 768w, https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Trout-Vacuum-Sealing-1024x678.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1060px) 100vw, 1060px" /></a><p id="caption-attachment-5815" class="wp-caption-text">I can easily vacuum seal game meat and fish in the field by powering the Big Game<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> from the 12V outlet in my truck. I run the cord through the back window and it’s long enough to reach from the dash to the tailgate.</p></div>
<h2><span style="font-weight: 400;">Performance and Preservation</span></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Before making the journey west, processing deer was all I had ever known and upon taking my first elk, I was overwhelmed at the amount of game meat that is yielded from a mature bull. With this in mind, I knew I had to have the best game preservation system that would be able to meet the processing demands of an animal four times the size of a whitetail. There’s no doubt I was able to get the job done faster and more efficiently with the use of my Big Game<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />, which can handle 80 consecutive seals or up to 240 pounds of game meat.</span></p>
<div id="attachment_5814" style="width: 3274px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><a href="http://app.markerly.com/b/36009/276" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-5814" data-attachment-id="5814" data-permalink="https://transitionwild.com/preserving-the-joy-of-the-moment/2016-elk-burger-packaging/" data-orig-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2016-Elk-Burger-Packaging.jpg" data-orig-size="3264,2448" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;2.2&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;iPhone 6&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;1474752428&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;4.15&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;250&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0.033333333333333&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}" data-image-title="2016 Elk Burger Packaging" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2016-Elk-Burger-Packaging-300x225.jpg" data-large-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2016-Elk-Burger-Packaging-1024x768.jpg" class="wp-image-5814 size-full" src="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2016-Elk-Burger-Packaging.jpg" alt="Vacuum Sealing Elk Meat" width="3264" height="2448" srcset="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2016-Elk-Burger-Packaging.jpg 3264w, https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2016-Elk-Burger-Packaging-300x225.jpg 300w, https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2016-Elk-Burger-Packaging-768x576.jpg 768w, https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/2016-Elk-Burger-Packaging-1024x768.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 3264px) 100vw, 3264px" /></a><p id="caption-attachment-5814" class="wp-caption-text">Packaging and processing hundreds of pounds of elk meat from a mature bull is no easy task but the Big Game<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> gets the job done with ease.</p></div>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In addition to being a workhorse, Big Game<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> is ideal for all of my processing needs, big or small. The Bags and Rolls keep meat fresh up to five times longer and prevent freezer burn, as opposed to ordinary storage methods such as paper wrapping or resealable bags. I recently enjoyed an elk burger from my 2016 bull and it tasted as fresh as the day I packaged it. When many dollars and hours are spent towards hunting-related activities throughout the year, it feels good to know that the fruits of my labor will remain fresh for as long as possible.</span></p>
<h2><span style="font-weight: 400;">Multi-Purpose Use</span></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">My primary use for the Big Game<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> is packaging game meat, however, I find myself using it in the kitchen for other things such as dehydrated snacks, making brats, or marinating steaks. A convenient feature is that it has a built-in storage compartment to hold the Fresh Handheld Sealer for when I marinate foods in FoodSaver® Fresh Containers.</span></p>
<div id="attachment_5818" style="width: 1176px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><a href="http://app.markerly.com/b/36009/275" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-5818" data-attachment-id="5818" data-permalink="https://transitionwild.com/preserving-the-joy-of-the-moment/big-game-vacuum-sealer-whitebackground/" data-orig-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Big-Game-Vacuum-Sealer-WhiteBackground.png" data-orig-size="1166,567" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="Big Game Vacuum Sealer WhiteBackground" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Big-Game-Vacuum-Sealer-WhiteBackground-300x146.png" data-large-file="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Big-Game-Vacuum-Sealer-WhiteBackground-1024x498.png" class="wp-image-5818 size-full" src="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Big-Game-Vacuum-Sealer-WhiteBackground.png" alt="FoodSaver BigGame Vacuum Sealer" width="1166" height="567" srcset="https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Big-Game-Vacuum-Sealer-WhiteBackground.png 1166w, https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Big-Game-Vacuum-Sealer-WhiteBackground-300x146.png 300w, https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Big-Game-Vacuum-Sealer-WhiteBackground-768x373.png 768w, https://transitionwild.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Big-Game-Vacuum-Sealer-WhiteBackground-1024x498.png 1024w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1166px) 100vw, 1166px" /></a><p id="caption-attachment-5818" class="wp-caption-text">The GameSaver® Big Game<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Vacuum Sealing System is available at <a href="http://app.markerly.com/b/36009/275" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Walmart.com</a> and at Walmart store locations. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Big Game<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> is also compatible with other GameSaver® consumables which include the 8” and 11” vacuum seal rolls and can be cut to various sizes and lengths based on the task at hand. It also works with all pre-made bags, Fresh Containers, and the quick marinator, allowing me to use it for a variety of food storage methods.</span></p>
<h2><span style="font-weight: 400;">Built For The Outdoorsman</span></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As an avid outdoorsman, having organic, free-range game meat and lasting memories are what really matter the most, so it’s important for me to have the best quality preservation system to keep meat fresh for the longest time possible. Each time I take a bite of a grilled elk steak or a pan-seared trout filet, my mind can’t help but wander to reliving the thrill of that experience. With the use of my Big Game<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />, I am able to preserve the joy of the moment and I look forward to many more hunting memories with my Father for years to come.</span></p>
