Over the past four years while working in the “hunting industry”, I’ve been able to spend a fair amount of time testing, reviewing, and putting my hands on new flagship bows each year while attending various trade shows. This past winter was no different, however, I came across a bow that was truly special and knew I had to give this bow a serious look as a candidate for my 2019 hunting rig. Fast forward a few months later and here I am reviewing my brand new Mako X from Xpedition Archery.
Even though the Mako X is considered a “speed bow” by industry standards, it offers a super smooth draw cycle and dead-in-the-hand feel while launching arrows down range at 364 FPS IBO. At a 5-inch brace height and 33-inch axle design, Xpedition Archery has set a new standard in the archery world to meet the demands of serious western hunters.
In this Part 1 Video Review, I unbox the 2019 Mako X, share my thoughts on its design, and cover the specifications in great detail. Needless to say, I am extremely excited to be shooting Xpedition this Fall and I encourage you to go shoot one at your local archery retailer this Summer. Stay tuned for Part 2 where I’ll take my fully set-up bow to the range to give you a first-hand look at how it shoots during target practice.
